Margie!
I was around 36 years old when my Afib difficulties began, first very intermittent (with about 6 months between the attacks) then more and more frequently until I went into chronic Afib when I was 39. The medication administered (Sotalol) only made me fatigued and depressed (yes, I can appreciate your husband's reaction...). The Maze made all the difference in the world for me. I think the fear of life time medication along with the crippling (yes, I mean crippling) effects of Afib made the choice to go ahead with Maze easy for ME. But it's a choice that of course should be made by anyone from his / hers own situation after having weighted all factors carefully.
In all honesty, not one day passes without a grateful thought of how blessed I am to be free of Afib. Best of luck with your cont'd search for information and your decision.
Best regards,
Anders Kingstedt
