Hi Everybody,
What luck!(Blessing!) in finding this website! My mother is getting a pacemaker tomorrow due to several years worth of a-fib events. She is an 86 year old (going on 60), who was a very active artist until she was started on various medications for a-fib and blood pressure. Along the way, she had many side effects from the meds (including Lupus like symptoms), but only sporadic relief. She seems to be in good health except for a-fib. My questions are: Is there anyone out there near her age who has had a successful recovery with the MAZE procedure? Is general anesthetic used? Can the surgery be done using sodium pentathol? Will the insertion of a pacemaker now, cause a problem with her being accepted for the MAZE procedute later? (Sorry for so many questions at once but this is all new to me.) Thanks so much for this great website!
