I recently celebrated my 74th birthday.
Normal sinus rhythm since Maze, Oct. 2, 2001.
Heart rate is around 90 per minute.
Medication, Diovan 80 mg. daily, and aspirin 2.5 mgm daily.I was appointed to the University faculty April, 2002. I feel alert and sharp and give lectures to the resident radiologists and medical students. I work full time, including taking call.
I hike in the mountains, fly fish for trout, and walk a lot.

At my most recent check-up, my cardiologist marveled at the sucess of the Maze, but expressed a wish that it was not so invasive.

Other cardiologist in this area are touting the retrograde ablation proceedure. (Maybe, because they do the proceedure?)

I recently found that I have gluten intolerance, which seems to be familial in my case. The diet seems to restore things to normal.
