Ken, part of what you are feeling is probably your body still recovering from surgery since you are only 7 or 8 weeks. Your overall fitness will continue to come back as it has so far.
The only thing that I think still happens is that you need to warm the heart up before exercising. It takes me a couple of 100 yard runs before a race. Otherwise, I start out slowly. This is still true at 19 months but I am hoping based on what Anders says that this will go away soon. Yes, a trip would be fun. We could do Ranier or Whitney if that would be easier.
