I want to welcome you to the board, but I don't really have any answers to your question. You should be in touch with your doctor about the chest pains. Chest pains, outside of the soreness from the incision is not one of the common complaints from the maze.
When I had my maze, I was not kept on any medication, and I maintained a NSR ever since my surgery. If you read several of the post on the board you will notice that there is no common time element for maintaining a NSR. It seems that everyone does this at different times, and medications after surgery also varies a great deal.
I wish I could be of more help, but I'm sure you will get several replies from other mazers that may help out more than I did.
Keep us all informed on how you progress. We are all interested in how each mazer does.
