Hi All,

I'm new to this board. I underwent the maze procedure and mitral valve repair three weeks ago at the Mayo Clinic. I underwent a cardioversion shortly after surgery to regulate and lower my heart rate. I am now on amiodarone. I have had brief episodes of a-fibs and my pulse rate has either been slightly too low (50s) or slightly too high (90s, even at rest). This higher rate is new. However, I'm most concerned about some chest pains that I experienced today while on a short walk. It was a very hot day. The pains lasted maybe 20 minutes. I don't think they were typical heart attack symptoms and I feel fine now, but it did scare me. Also, I had no shortness of breath during the attacks. My questions are as follows: 1) Has anyone else experienced such chest (thoracic) pains? 2) Does anyone have any idea what might have been the cause? 3) How long will it be before my pulse settles down to a normal sinus rhythm and rate?
Thanks in advance!
