Dr. Dearani is, in my opinion, remarkable to say the least. He assured me before the surgery that I would be fine afterwards, and he was 100% correct. I also was told by many people at the hospital what a fine surgeon he is. I would recommend him to anyone who would ask me about where to go to have the Maze done. Are you doing well following the surgery also??? I'm so glad I found this web board - it is truly inspiring to see all of the people that have been helped by this procedure. Maybe someone should inform Oprah that she should have a whole show on this condition. I'm sure she would have no problem getting enough people on there to discuss it. I never would have believed there were so many people out there with this condition. In my small town, there are only a few of us as far as I know, and so far I am the only one who has had the Maze procedure done - at least I haven't heard of anyone else in my area that have had it. I don't think a lot of people out there, if they have A-fib, realize that there is a cure to their problem. They go on doing what their local doctor advises - drugs, and more drugs. That is not the only answer. Most everyone I have spoken with and explained what I had done have never even heard of the Maze procedure. More information should be put out there.
