Been struggling with AF for 10+ years. Tried most meds and was involved in a linear catheter maze ablation protocol several years ago at Johns Hopkins. None have helped in the long run. I'm in chronic AF and faced with the decision of a surgical maze since my other options are running low. Consulted with Dr. Millar about the maze. All sounds good except for one concern I have. In the past, I've found the cure (meds) to be worse than the illness (AF). In the literature and discussions that I've looked at, it's not clear if 95-98% cure rate is med free or not. I don't want to go through the whole procedure only to be put on meds that I don't tolerate. That is not success to me. Anyone have information or experience that would help me here?
