Most of us on this board have been in your position...I had exhausted all of my options and continued getting worse. It got to the point where I was faced with the same choices that you are considering. My cardiologist felt the the MAZE was TOO invasive...but, given the odds of a 'cure', it was the only way to go in my opinion. He too was convinced after speaking with Dr. MCCarthy at the Cleveland Clinic. I have been med-free and in NSR since my discharge in 8/00. I don't think I would have found a cardiologist who would have recommended the Maze. I feel so fortunate to have learned about it through my own research. The 'experts' don't always have all of the answers. I wish you good luck in your decision. This message board will provide you with lots of input from those who have 'been there'.
