In Holland was the procedure like this:When my a-fib got out of hand and the ablations did not work they gave me three options:let the a-fib exist (medication plus coumadin),pacemaker (no medication,but still coumadin)or the maze (heavy operation,95% success,no medication,50% chance on coumadin (later:asprin).They let me choose and I chose the maze,because I wanted to keep on running and I did not wanted to be pacemaker dependable.I am still very glad I chose for the maze.I always understood that health care in the UK was a lot like in Holland.so I hope you'll get what you want.
