My doctor also wanted me to have a pacemaker, I had been on amiodarone for four years and having weekly brake outs. Having a pacemaker would get me off amiodarone but put me on coumadin and that wasnt an option for me. I was told that an ablation wouldnt work. So after reasearch I chose the MAZE and had it done on March 1. The only drug that I am on now for heart is asprin. I would never tell someone what to do but incourage much research so that when you decide what to do you will be happy with your choice.
