Many of us have had increased heart rates post Maze surgery. I wondered if part of this might be the rebound effect you spoke of caused by coming off the beta blockers so abruptly. I had been taking Inderal & Lanoxin for years before my Maze and took them up to the day of my surgery. My local Doctors had always warned me about discontinuing these drugs suddenly, but the CC physicians never mentioned this even as a potential cause for the increased post-surgical rate.
