I want to agree with Bob Mckee and say that Rythmol is good stuff. Today I am 45 days post-maze. The last afib I had was 29 days ago and I have been in NSR since. I haven’t even been having PVCs or PACs! Wow! Is that something or what?

Brief history: On Mar 29 Dr. McCarthy and his team did my maze procedure. I was discharged 5 days later on April 3rd in NSR without drugs. After two nights across the street at the Guesthouse my rhythm changed to flutter/fib with a rate as high as 180. According to my local EP part of the reason that could have happen, was because of what she called “beta blocker rebound”. I had been on beta blockers (100mg of Atenolol daily) till the day of my Maze. Anyway, I went back to the CC and was put on an IV to reduce my rate. I converted without a shock and was discharged again after spending one night in the hospital. I left the hospital on the following drugs. --- Rythmol 150mg 3 times per day, Toprol XL 100mg once a day, Aldactone 25mg twice a day, Nexium 20mg once per day till April 29, and Coumidan for 6 weeks. On April 13 I had a 1.5 hr run of afib and on April 14th I had a 6 hr run. Dr. Hammer increased the amount of Rythmol to 225mg of Rythmol. If I continue to stay afib free, I will begin to reduce the Rythmol at 8 weeks post-maze.

I am surprised that even with the Toprol and Rythmol my resting rate is about 80. I am certainly looking forward being drug free. I continue to walk about 5 miles per day and do some hills.
