Subject: AFX Microwave Procedure

Ed was supposed to have surgery today and it was cancelled because he has been on amiadarone for too long and they think he needs to wait a couple of months before having surgery. He stopped taking the amiadarone two weeks ago and the surgeons said according to his blood tests, he needs to be off of it a little longer before attempting surgery. The good news is that his valve isn't leaking so there is no need for them to repair that.
My question is this: has anyone on the message board had the AFX? The doctors at CC talked to him about it and he is pretty interested in that....they said the success rate is fairly high, comparable to the maze surgery. So he is thinking of having that done instead of the maze. His thinking is that if it doesn't work, he can always have the maze done. The AFX is a one day hospital stay and seems so much easier, especially in the recovery department. So has anyone had this done or know of anyone who has had this done and what was their experience with it??
I need all the feedback from those who have been there, done that. Thanks, your replies will be much appreciated.

Michelle
