I know you and others have referred to extra beats as PVCs from time to time. How do you know they are PVCs?
MOst folks have atrial premature contractions (APCs) that are extra beats that arise from an spot other than the normal rhythm generator ine the atirum, the sinus node. These are absolutely benign, do not portend anything bad and occur in virtually every one from time to time.

PVCs are equivalrent extra beats that arise in the ventricles. They are more likely to occur in damaged than normal hearts, but can also occur in normal hearts, whether they indicate any risk depends on a lot of other factors. The most common is ischemic heart disease and/ ischemic or other cardiomyopathy. The only practical way to distinguish them is by ekg, and just because you have the one doesn't mean you don't have the other.

SHort answer, if you don't have clogged coronaries, congetive heart failure valvular heart disease or something obscure like prolonged QT syndrome, you are in all great probability OK.
