Maze and symptoms

I have a question for those who have had the maze.
Did you have symptoms with your at.fib such as dizziness,lightheadness or short of breath which made you decide to have the maze. I have at fib but no symptoms except for the flip flopping which sends me to the Dr. I never convert to nsr on my own. I have been cardioverted three times since Jan. I am on amiodarone 300 mg. My internist wants me to have the maze but I wonder if that isn't going to the extreme. Thanks!
