Gerald, I was 64 when I had my maze and I came through it with flying colors. I have been in NSR ever since I came out of the OR, and it will soon be 4 years. I can't say your made the correct decision for you, but it certainly was the right choice for me, and for most people who has had it with AF.
I don't know Dr. Duncan, but I have heard nothing but good things about him.
