Anders I looked at the article, and in the title of the article it says Developed in Collaboration With the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology.
In my opinion, this group is basically involved in treating AF through medications, ablations, cardioversions, and continued visits with the patient to keep them comfortable as they can be with their condition.
They did cite 4 articles by Dr. Cox, the latest was published in The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in 1995. If they were really wanting to show much on the maze, they could of surly came up with something newer than 1995. There seems to be little interest in the cure of the ailment in many of the fields, but I think this approach is slowly changing.
