Thank you for your replies-i fully understand that there is a microwave ablation/maze procedure-It is clear from previous messages on the cleveland heart center board that they are referring to the regular non maze intracardiac cathether ablation as having a success rate of over 80 per cent and I find this statistic to be hard to believe-I agree with you that this sounds like there are 2 different "empires" competing at the cleveland clinic-However, as I have had 2 failed ablations (not done at the cleveland clinic) and was clearly told by my ep that the statisics are 70% with a 20% regresssion rate after 3 months which results in a 50% success/cure rate, I find it very, very disturbing to see these statistics of +80 per cent success being directly given to people with affib by drs. at cleveland on their message board for the non maze ablation, unless of course these statistics are true, but then why would you have the more invasive open heart surgery maze done if a regular ablation cures over 80% of affib patients at cleveland-something is wrong here--I have extensively researched the intra cardiac catheter ablation for affib and not anyone else, including Proessor H. in France who invented this technique come close to anything more than 50%- I am not trashing the ablation, I believe it can work for some people which is why I have had it done on myself and it is worth a try for certain affib patients with affib coming from extra beats-I am going in for a 3 ablation and if that does not succeed , I will consider the maze-just my thoughts-
