As you say, reading the vast majority of the posts tends to "perk one up", and I'm sure you have seen that you are experiencing anything unusual. Keep trying to get off the meds, and one of these days soon, you will probably find you don't need them after the next day, or EVER.Keep up the walking/exercise and your heart will get past this sooner.
