Sounds like you're doing great. Don't worry about the elevated heart rate. I believe that this is a normal effect of the Maze. My heart rate has slowly come down over the months (years) that have past since the Maze operation (February -99), but is not near what it use to be at rest (roughly 50). To bear in mind is that the difference between the /expected/ max pulse and the resting pulse probably has a greater impact on the overall form / well being than the resting pulse in itself. The higher the value (i e max pulse minus resting pulse), the better (again, from what I've learned). The scarring of the interior of the heart is probably what chiefly explains the elevated pulse.
Take care and good luck with your cont'd progress.
