HI there--great idea. I am a nurse with 15 years of experience in cardiac surgery Intensive Care so I am well educated with the medical side of Afib and the care of a cardiac patient. My experience with Afib and the Maze procedure is quite limited but very peronal. My husband had become completely disabled by age 30 with extreme Afib that was unresponsive to years of trials and tribulations of horrible medication lists longer than we care to think about. There were a few meds that were affective for a short time and back to the same end results, and there were a few meds that were just simply intolerable to any sort of acceptable lifestyle. We tried every thing and finally after meds, EP studies, heart caths, ablations, pacemakers x 2, we opted for the Maze procedure. We did very detailed homework about the procedure. Even though I had worked in Cardiac surgery ICU's for 15 years I had not ever heard of the Maze procedure and our cardiologists was totally against our decision to have the surgery. Much to his dismay, we proceeded with our decision to have the surgery. At the age of 35 my husband had the maze procedure and is now a year post op and is doing amazingly well. We actually live a normal life now. It was definetly a life changing expereince for us. I am willing to contribute in any way I can if it can help others recover from debilitating Afib. I can help with medical explanations but on a level that the general public and understand. I have posted on here several times before but it has been quite a while since last posting. After Randy's initial recovery, we became so involved in "LIFE" in a way that we had not ever known before that we spent very very little time indoors on the computer as we did pre surgery. Let me know if I can help. I do think that if would be nice if there was some way that the site could be broken down into subjects, instead of having to read through every post, and also another suggestion is it would be great if there was some way to just scroll on to the next posting instead of having to go back to the original list and clicking on the next one. Perhaps there is already a way to do this and I am not familiar with it. Great site. SuLynn
