Henry: I doubt our operations were significantly different, since mine is described as "a primary sternotomy" in the operative report and...my incision is about 5 1/2 to 5 3/4" long. In my prime pre-afib years of heavy swimming, biking, triathons, I always weighed 195-205 at 6'tall. Pre-op, I was at around 240-45, so I don't fall into the "lean" category. The difference between our surgeries I believe is that you apparently had extremely low discomfort, calling only for a baby asprin after a few days. While I was not in much pain by any means, I did enjoy the almost zero pain provided by the morphine in the first couple days. I would much rather have the unexpectedly minor discomfort of my maze to the unexpectedly sever pain of my kidney stone.

Keep letting us know how you are doing with your recovery.
