Before my maze I had 2 times a flutterablation while I was fluttering on medication.Without medication I was just a-fibbing.The second one was succesfull, that is to say I was not fluttering anymore, just a-fibbing instead! Reason they advised the ablation is that when the flutter is gone the a-fib sometimes disappears too or is easier to treat with medication. And the maze surgeon likes it too, because,so my cardiologist said,it makes his job somewhat easier. Also I had 2 attempts of focal ablation. They failed.Only with the focal ablation there is a risk of the stenosis of the pulmonary vessel (because the focus is often in that region). The impact of the ablation as a treatment is in my opinion not so big >within a week I was okay again.
