Joanne,I had my maze at 7th of June 2001 too and luckely I am in NSR and no medication except coumadin.Still my heart is reacting very slow on exercise(makes me huffing and puffing too),but lately I managed to get my heart rate above 110 with maximum exercise.In my pre maze time I have used a beta blocking medicin like atenolol >the result was that my heart was not reacting AT ALL on exercise >so it is a possibility that the atenolol makes it worse than it should be after the maze.As far as I know tambocor doesn't influence the heartrate so much.
