Jeanne, i too had a av ablation with a continueous pacemaker implant in feb 99.Like you told mike as a result of the procedure my afib is no longer rapid, It is like night and day. But like you I want to some day be in sinus. I am seeing my physio DR. in 2 weeks. I talked to his nurse today, and she informed me he now does the less invasive procedure(no open heart surgery) moderate incission, to hopefully cure afib. When I saw him 6 months ago he only did 6 such procedures. In the last 6 months he already has performed 115 additional. I am going to ask him if I am a candidate. He works out of The Hosp of The Univ of Penna, and is head section of his dept. He is the only DR. in the Philly area that does this. Just some food for thought for you or any else that is interested. What is leaning me towards this procedure, IF succesful= NO MORE BLOOD THINNERS. CU, JERRY.
