Dear Everybody:
First of all thank you Jack for you kind phone call last night. I needed to update this board and I am especially happy that I am still part of it in spite of the fact that I did not receive the maze but 2 valve repairs instead. (mitral and tricuspid)
Everything was going really well untill on Thursday my cardiologist, Dr. Rodriguez from CC came in and said my operation had been difficult, that I had had a lot of calcification in my mitral valve and even though the seals were great, they had nicked my ventricular septum and needed to confirm it with a transephasogeal echo the next day. My mood came tumbling down and I was then told I did have a little hole and they needed to recatherize me to measure or quantify the leak. I was beside myself. If it was big they were going to perform a whole new open heart on me to fix it. I think that could have been one of my darkest moments. They catherized me yesterday and luckily they tell me it is small enough they are not going to fix it. They tell me this is very rare, but they do not think it will cause me any problems and they do not think it will grow. If it does, the good news is they can fix it but we know what that entails don't we? So they feel pretty confident it will not cause me any limitations or injury and that it should just be followed up like evertything else. You guys I am exhausted after the week from hell. I feel fortunate and happy today that they are taking about sending me home. Still have to work out my coumadin levels. Oh, Dr. Cosgrove is (phantom)Cosgrove in my book. I talked to Jim Roff last night and he is fine but working on his leg clot. One day at a time. Hope Ozzie is doing well. Huggs and kisses to Ozzie, Mona, Jim, Fran and the rest of the board. Helena don't get discouraged. They say this is very rare, what happened to me.
