Thomas

Congratulations and thanks for sharing. I want you to know how much I appreciated your sharing comments with me about your experiences at OSU Medical Center as I made my decision to have the MAZE (surgery was Aug 8). So I am at this point only about 60 days out, and am still dealing with the infection I contracted. Until the antibiotic infusions are completed, which should be Oct 10, I have continued in junctional rhythm (no Afib), and will have attention given to NSR when the antibiotic home infusions are completed.

I, like you, found the OSU Med Center to be an exceptional place and also found the nursing staff to be outstanding. I, like you, had an extended hospital stay. Your stay I believe was 17 days, but with the infection I contracted and with the second surgery to deal with paracardial effusion, my stay extended to 24 days. One of the surgeons suggested I was entitled to an award for the longest MAZE hospital stay. I responded that I knew that Thomas Glass had been there at OSU for 17 days, so after I reached 17 days and went beyond, I knew I was setting the record. He was amazed that I knew your name and the length of your stay! I think the medical staffs do not know how much we learn from others on this site.

Again congratulations on your one year anniversary and your success with the MAZE. I look forward to the same good fortune at my one year anniversary.

Roger
