Hi guys! Sorry to be so late, but I am still catching up on my reading posts on this site after my MAZE procedure. I guess I feel extroardinarily fortunate that my sternum and chest muscles weren't more sore than they were for me. I remarked on several occasions to my surgeon, Dr. Robert Michler, that I was so totally surprised that my chest was not more sore. After the first few days, I only had soreness when I coughed..as I think we all did. So far as sleeping on my side on my side was concerned, I had no problem or discomfort. I never had any discomfort with the sternum or the chest regardless of how I laid in bed. MY problem was and continues to be that I have difficulty sleeping straight through the night without waking up. That is annoying and I am hopeful to finally return to my normal sleeping patterns soon. At the point of this post I am 50 days post MAZE.
