Dear Anders,

What a splendid posting. I do not run in any local races but am a physical fitness buff. I am 53 years old and workout 3 to 4times a week at a local gym and ride my bike on off days for about 20 miles. Prior to my surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in June 2000 I also worked out regulalry but, as with many of us, found it difficult to do during AF episodes. Which brings me to my point ...... Without doubt, the fact that I was in such good condition made my recovery and rehab as easy as it was. Dr. Hammer released me from the hospital 4 days after surgery, I was sleeping on my sides 6 days after surgery and was walking 10 miles a day 3 weeks post surgery. And playing golf 6 weeks following surgery. My advice to all prospective Mazers is to get into the best physical condition that your body allows, especially aerobically. The benefits will be substantial.

Good luck to you all. Those of us brave enough to have had the surgery are here to support you and help in any way. Thanks to Jack for starting and maintaining this website.
