I was also diagnosed with sever sleep apnea several years ago. I had the sleep study after my a-fib became more uncontrolable. My apena has been controlled pretty well by using a CPAP at night. I have lost over 60 lbs since I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I will have another sleep study done after I have fully recovered from the valve and MAZE surgery. My surgeon believes that a prolapsed mitral valve can contribute to sleep apnea. I have slept better since my surgery than I have in years.
