I have just returned from the two and halve blocks walk that seperated the Intercontinental Hotel and the Cleveland Clinic. This day Number 7 after my Maze operation.

Thank you Carl for the phone call and for posting a message on the board on my status.

I checked in the Cleveland Hospital on 9/10, finished all the tests on 9/11 and was ready for the Maze operation on 9/12. However, Dr. McCarthy was stranded in Washignton DC and did not return back except late on 9/12.

I had my Maze operation on 9/13 at 2:30 PM and left the operating room at 5:30 PM. I left the ACU unit on 9/15 and was discharged from the Hospital on 9/17. Hence, it was 4 days after the operation when I left the Hospital after the surgery.

I went back to the Cleveland Clenic, as an out of patient on 9/18 to perform ECO and EKG, per the request of my assinged follow up Cardiology, Dr. Mills. The result was fine. I am still in Sings Rythem untill now, and my energy is returing back slowly but surly. I am still suffering from my open heart chest wounds which does not allow me a good night sleep because I have to stay on my back most of the time. But time will heal every thing.

I am scheduled to see Dr. Mills on 9/25th and If every thing went asa planned I will be back to Saudi Arabia by Oct. 1. I work in Saudi Aramco, which has about 5000 American families. As American Cetizens, we live in an American Community that resemble any Sudivision you see here in the USA, complete with two car grages, front, and back yards, fences, Schools, buses, tennis courts, swimming pools,...etc.

I am looking forward to go back in complete health. FYI, I am 59 years old who suffered Chronil Lone Atrial Fibrillation for 5 years, and have been on the Coumoding for the lasr 4 years because I suffered a TIA (Transient Ischematic Attack, or a mini stroke). I have been on several medications including both beta blockers and Calcuim Channel Blockers. I was alwayws tired, short of breath, on restricted vegetable diet, continually dependaple on medications. I Depated for so long of the alternatives to improve the quality of my life. I waited for the Catheter Ablation to mature to cure for Afib, but nothing happend to encourage me that the break through in the understanding of the cause of LONE Afibe is neer. So, I decided for the proven high sucessfule Maze Operation.

This is my story. I hope you can gain some thing out of my experience and the reason for performing the Maze.

Looking forward to hear from you guys, I will continue post my progress.
