Gabriel,
Since you ask for advice, I will give you my two cents worth.

I am not an expert on Afib but I have consulted six cardiologists during the past year. I am not impressed. I am disillusioned. Some of them work only with stents, some work only with catheter ablation, and some work only with toxic drugs. Not one of them has ever mentioned the MAZE procedure. When I specifically asked about the MAZE, it was gently ridiculed and denigrated. Two months ago I had a flutter ablation which did eliminate the flutter as promised. Also, as promised, the flutter was replaced by more Afib.

The fact is that the catheter ablation cardiologists are always on the lookout for a new person to experiment on even though the results are generally poor.

I think you should bite the bullet and investigate the MAZE before they burn you any more.

I practice what I preach. I am in the process of setting up an appointment with the Cleveland Clinic for a MAZE.

Good luck to you and thank god for this marvellous message board. It tells it the way it is.
