John it isn't premature to be thankful now, as I am sure that you will do fine having the Maze. I went into it with a positive attitude and many people praying for me, and it wasn't bad at all.
I don't know anything myself about Dr. Millar, except that I have him listed on the web page as a maze surgeon, and I haven't heard anything negative about him.
Even though the final results are good, I personally think some of the people are missing a good thing by going to the big high volume hospitals (assembly line style), as compared to the smaller hospitals. I had my surgery in Peoria, Illinois at the OSF St Francis Medical Center, which is a Research, and transplant facility, but much more of a personal touch to it all.
I hope that the web site has been of some help to you. Just keep us informed on your progress as you can. Are you familiar with "THE STATUS" web site, that you can post your progress on and then anyone can check on you and leave you messages. The Cleveland Clinic seem to get all their Maze patients to start one, and it works very well. I am sure it is a free service available to anyone. The address is http://www.thestatus.com/index.cfm?fa=index&sid=0
Best wishes and prayers.
