minimally invasive Maze

My husband (the patient) and I have been reading a lot about this Maze procedure as well as the ablation. He's been in AFib for 7 years that we know of, had 4x bypass 5 yrs ago, and Afib came right back. Since then, may different drugs, the latest being Amiodarone which made him feel really bad, and also he began having nodules on his thyroid (due to Amio?). Recent test showed his heart rate too low and doc took him off Amiod. in two weeks will be another holter monitor, and doc says there is a possibility for a pacemaker which my husband refuses at this time. He (my husband)wants to check more into the Maze procedure or Ablation, we don't know yet which he qualifies for.
I was wondering if the minimally invasive Maze procedure has been approved (perfected) yet as well as any other kind of helpful info.
