Did you get all of the posts deleted or is there more to do?
Sounds like one of the spam search engines found the board. Possible it was a virus, but maybe just a low class, moronic marketer.
If the posts were all made by one machine or just a couple, then that could identify who it was. I still have the logs and will explore that.
So far, this is a one time incident (at least at this scale). If it continues, there are a couple options. One is registration. That helps a great deal to block spammers, but also tends to block many people who legitimately would like to post, but do not want to register. I know I fall into that category, but am very open to the opinions here and will lean to the majority.
Another issue is whether people are getting spam from their posting here. Spam robots crawl any site they find and within seconds can download the email addresses. I have not had spam come to my address that I use here, but it's possible others are.
If it is a problem, there is a way to hide the addresses in such a way that they are still functional but the spammers can't download them easily.
Time for some feedback if anyone has some.
