Again (see previous entries) - I'm more and more convinced that the recovery process in regard of anaerobic capacity takes longer time than getting your general well-being and muscular strength back on track. As Steve and Thomas are telling us, the recovery will gradually improve, especially when helped by moderate and "sensible" anaerobic training (hmm...running intervals and fartlek and long runs in excess of 10 miles is perhaps not moderate..:-)..). But it seems like the two year time frame is to be expected for a /almost/ complete recovery...

Ps. If you're not concerned about running or any other form of endurance related activity, the feeling of "shortness of breath" etc. might not affect you at all after the Maze...This phenomenon is probably only evidented when the cardiovascular system is subjected to medium to hard work...My guess...
