Steve,

I had the Maze at CCF with Dr McCarthy on 16 October, 2001, (I just missed the pleasure of meeting Claud Hepworth, unfortunately).

Atypically, I left CCF with Atrial Flutter. (I probably sneezed during a critical moment in the procedure).

The CCF docs brought me back to CCF eight months later, June 14, 2002, for an ablation by Dr Schweikert. This completely cured the problem. He told me that the flutter was caused by one of the Maze scars.

I have been in NSR with no problems of any kind since June, 2002 and take no meds. I do take an Enteric Aspirin everyday.

I was 69 years old at the time of the Maze surgery.

I walk 3 - 4 miles every day (and run a small part of it).

The Maze is a very safe procedure. It is the drugs that are dangerous.

Best of luck,

Henry
