Glenn,
If you want to get a second opinion from an EP at the Texas Heart Institute I would recommend Dr. Massumi. He is the EP I used when I had my MAZE done by Dr. Duncan at the Texas Heart Institute. It was the cut and sew method Dr. Duncan used and I have not had afib since surgery. When I looked into ablations I found the success rate was much less than the cut and sew MAZE. No one can say you would have been cured with the MAZE procedure but the percentages for a cure are better on average. Ablations seem easier on the patient but if the ablation is not successful one has to question if it is easier after all. I am not trying to promote open heart surgery, just reporting that for this lone camper it was the best route for me. Let me know if I can help you in anyway. I am, as you know, located just a few miles down the road from you. John
