Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Jim Cox, we are moving closer to an educational, informational, and social gettogether this fall. Dr. Cox has gotten a tentative commitment from St. Jude's Medical to offset some of the costs, most notably probably, a reception/banquet on the first night.

The tentative plans include: a tour of the laboratory at Washington University @ St. Louis, where Dr. Cox and his colleagues began the research leading to the development of the Maze, (and where they are still working on better cures for afib), meeting some of those same researchers, hearing from Maze surgeons from around the world, seeing a live non-invasive Maze using the new Epicor ultrasound instrument broadcast from Barnes Jewish Hospital to the meeting theatre, and learning other advances in curing afib.

Current afib sufferers are encouraged to attend, so they can learn the latest advances from those who are leading the search for better cures.

I need to confirm ASAP as to how many people think they will attend, so Dr. Cox can alert those involved with the planning, and so St. Jude might have an idea of what their costs could total.

Dr. Cox is excited about having a number of surgeons/EPs in attendance, including as many of those who have helped change so many of our lives (McCarthy, Barnes, Millar, and several others), as well as some who might still be skeptical. If we have a really good turnout, he expects that it would generate some national news media interest, which could help many, many more afib sufferers.

Please, indicate your interest ASAP for this event, which would probably now take place in late September to mid October in St. Louis. My email is: spcentsp@verizon.net
