Hello All,
The 65th case performed with "closed chest minimally invasive MAZE Procedure" for patients with paroxsysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation was performed earlier this week. This procedure is currently performed in eight centers, and growing, around the U.S.
Current surgeons that have performed the greatest number of the 65 procedures are:
Jim Wudel, MD Lincoln, Nebraska 402-489-6553
Randall Wolf, MD Cincinnati, Ohio 513-584-3278
Marc Gillinov, MD Cleveland, Ohio 216-444-2661
Jim Edgerton, MD Plano, Texas 972-596-6676I hope this is of assistance. This is legitimate information. It is a closed chest procedure using a scope and is performed by a cardiac surgeon that is generally a two to three hour procedure with four small incisions (6-7 cm. in lenght), non-rib spreading (very little to no pain)and most patients go home the next day.
If you have any questions please e-mail me.
