Thanks very much to everyone that responded to my plea for help. In answer to some of the questions, yes, it did occur to me about whether it was Atrial Flutter and not Afib. I questioned the doctors about this and they said that it was not Flutter - but I'm not sure I believe them. I wasn't able to get a copy of the EKG but I will continue to try. On Sunday, thank heavens, Paul's heart rate returned to normal, and they let him out of the hospital. It was very strange - it was running about 110 (he was lying in bed) and I looked up at the monitor and it just changed to 74 in an instant. He is feeling ok now. The Cardiologist insisted that he start taking Lanoxin. The Cardiolist, while releasing us, defended his choice of cordarone and also told us that the Maze is not the best treatment for Afib anymore. I told him that I'm quite aware of what's going on in the Afib world (as I read this board faithfully)! Anyway, we are going to see the new EP that has come into my husband's cardiologist practice. I will keep you informed on what happens. Thanks again to everyone.. (And Carl, yes, we are in Jacksonville.)
