Indeed a shocking story.I am 3 years after my maze(June 2001),still in NSR,only having some extra beats.I thought my rhythm was safe for the future,but the A-fib can evidently strike back at any moment!
I have heard that sometimes after the maze a new focus originates from the scar tissue and mostly I can easily treated with low dosis anti arhytmic medicine like tambocor and if not, a touch up ablation will do the trick.I hope it will work out for you.I wish you all the luck,Hans Koster
