Jack: I would not hesitate to go to Dr.McCarthy. He is still one of the best. He is NOT just heading up Maze surgeries @NW, but the entire arrhythmia treatment center, and WILL be forthright about what your expectations should be for a particular procedure.

I was in Chicago until Saturday, and surely would have been happy to have met with you to let you see one happy 3-1/2 year vet of Dr. McCarthy's handiwork. I meant to call him personally to express for the umpteenth time my thanks for giving me a new life, but I was too busy having fun, eating great food and drinking nice wine. Obviously, my priorities were not in order, so should you talk with him, please express my thanks and apologies for neglecting to call when I was so close!

As to the "unsuccessful" Maze surgeries: There are but a few of them, but you will from time to time hear of them (or complications or need for "touch-up" ablations) on this site, (and we encourage ALL posts), but there just are not that many.
Keep us informed of your progress.
