Thanks for your comments Paul. I am contemplating the Maze with Dr. McCarthy at Northwestern here in Chicago. I know he was one of the best when he was at C.C. I've been fighting this problem since 1995 and have been on every med I can think of and had a rather disappointing PVA 2 years ago. I'm in and out of AF with a little help from a small dose of Amiodarone. My EP wants me off of the meds and told me I should consider a pacemaker. I told him no way. To me it just exacerbates my problems by making me pacemaker dependent AND still having AF. Open heart surgery seems to be a bit drastic but then if I'm cured it would be worth it. As I have told Jack Drum --we see and hear of the successful Maze surgeries but what about the unsuccessful ones?
