Sandra, your brother is in our prayers. Thanks for your posting about his condition. The active ingredient in Cortarone is amiodarone. A number of posters to this web site [including me] have described the risks of taking amiodarone. Apparently some physicians fail to warn their patients of serious side effects caused by amiodarone and they do not adequately montior their patients for these side effects.
