Thank you for your comments and advice. I have not been able to reply individually as I have limited access to a computer. I did not know that ultrasound could check for clots so as to be able to be cardioverted faster. I called to pass this on to my mom and learned dad had gone to the hospital this morning. He gained 3 pounds overnight yet they had a very light dinner. The shortness of breath started again and he felt as if some fluid had begun to accumulate. I think that the a-fib is just not letting up. Just before things worsened, he had spoken with his maze surgeon at the CC who reassured him that this happens and that his local doctors were doing everything that would be done in Cleveland at this point. I was feeling more reassured when I heard that but now I am feeling more worried than ever as it seems he is gone into heart failure again. I will know more tomorrow but his feeling was that he would be checked into the hospital. I will keep you posted. Thank you again for sharing your experiences and wisdom with us.
