I have already been denied the opportunity to have term life, which is provided as an employee benefit at my wife's hospital since my sternum was cut. My wife explained to the insurer that I had open heart surgery as a result of a doctor's error, not because of a health reason. The insurer told her that it didn't matter, that I was a risk, and they would not insure me. I am carried on my wife's health insurance with no problem, but the doctor error cost the insurance company about $400,000 and counting.
