PVI versus Maza

My husband is scheduled next week for a pulmonary vein isolation at the Mayo Clinic. I read some older posts and saw that some of you have been to Mayo. During the pre-testing, based on what they find, is it possible that they may change their course of action (i.e. suggest a Maza instead of a PVI)? I'm not sure what to expect! Any experiences you'd like to share from your stay at Mayo would be appreciated!
