I don't know if any of you know or have had contact with Byron Marshall.
He contacted me by E-Mail about a month ago, and wanted to tell me he had scheduled the Maze Procedure by a Dr. Gunnar, at Hines Hospital, in Maywood Illinois, near Chicago.
Byron had his surgery on 4-26, and came out of surgery in NSR, and everything seemed normal.
They could never get his blood oxygen up, and he begin to have complications and his kidneys, liver and other organs begin shutting down and he passed away.
His autopsy showed liver and lung toxicity, which probably caused his complications.
From what his family told me, he had been on AMIODARONE since 1997, and was still on it just prior to his surgery. They are still trying to find out if this was the main factor in his death.
Everyone should be very cautious of this medication, and have the proper test for side effects at proper times. This should be a consideration in surgery, and probably should come off of it well ahead of surgery. Amiodarone stayes in your body for a long time after stoping it.
Byron never did post on the board, but contacted me by mail, and I thought he might of contact some more of you.
My prayers go to his wife and family. Byron was just 57, and this is a terrible loss to them.
